Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Two: That’s What You Get, Folks, For Makin’ Whoopie

Posted By Shannon on June 4, 2010

Luke has just found out Lorelai and Christopher slept together, and he drives to Christopher’s house, knocks on the door, punches Chris in the face and then leaves. It’s pretty much my favorite part of the entire series. When he gets back to the diner later, TJ is there to help him put the diner together again. TJ wants to make the wall a giant stained glass window. Luke looks across the street and sees Kirk has put on a backwards baseball cap and is serving coffee and breakfast in the square.

Zack and Lane are back from their honeymoon in Mexico. They had a horrible time. Zack got some kind of parasite and threw up for most of the trip, and now Lane is feeling sick, too. Lane tells Rory that now she knows sex is horrible. She’s convinced that women everywhere are lying about enjoying sex and that it’s terrible for all women. She says they only did it once and she won’t listen when Rory says it will get better.

Luke and Lorelai run into each other in the street. Lorelai says she’s sorry, and Luke is all weird and cold when Lorelai says she’s not okay. Luke says he’s over it. It doesn’t matter to him that they’re not getting married; Lorelai’s the one who proposed in the first place.

Lorelai knows Rory is sad that she and Logan aren’t able to go to Asia like they’d planned, so she decorates the house to look like Asia. They make a bunch of really weird sushi rolls (fried chicken, Butterfinger, Jujubee) and then watch movies like Karate Kid and Joy Luck Club. The phone rings and the Girls let the machine get it. Rory hears Christopher leave a message talking about “the other night” and Luke hitting him in the face. Rory is angry that Lorelai slept with him. Like, really angry. I don’t really get it.

Rory goes to Lane and does that thing they ALWAYS do on this show where she walks around talking and talking about her own problems before she realizes Lane isn’t looking so good. Turns out she’s pregnant. She’s terrified and is sure she’s not ready to be a mother. Rory tells her she doesn’t have to be perfect to be a mother. This makes her realize her own mother isn’t perfect and she just made a mistake. Lane calms down and they start talking about celebrities and the horrible names they give their children.

Luke tells TJ he and Lorelai broke up, so he makes him come home with him for dinner. Dinner takes forever to cook, so Liz gives the boys Jell-O cups. Liz says she’s not surprised about the breakup because Luke never totally moved in with Lorelai and never told her about April. Luke says they just weren’t right for each other.

Liz finally realizes the oven is broken and that’s why dinner isn’t ready yet. Luke goes to the store to get something they can make on the burners. Lorelai is there. Luke apologizes for being a jerk before and Lorelai apologizes, too. He says they’re just not right together and Lorelai doesn’t belong with him. He says he can just go back to being the guy who pours her coffee. Lorelai doesn’t seem to take that too well and she walks away. Rory comes home later and finds her crying on the couch.

Lane: I do know that. Do not name your baby after an inanimate object.

TJ: Don’t underestimate me, Luke. I read. And I watch Battlestar Galactica.

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode One: The Long Morrow

Rory wakes up and finds a gift from Logan on the kitchen counter. She unwraps it and is bewildered to find it’s a model rocket. She has no idea why he would give her such a thing. She goes to the newspaper office and finds Paris has set herself up as a tutor. Paris freaks Rory out when she assumes she and Logan broke up.

Lorelai wakes up in Christopher’s bed and goes to leave. Christopher tries to get her to stay, but she says she has to go. When she leaves his room, she looks like she knows she did a stupid thing. When she gets home, Babette is there. She heard Paul Anka howling, so she came over and fed him. She tells Lorelai she heard about the fight. Luke shows up when Lorelai is leaving for work. He says he’s sorry about last night and he wants to discuss things now. Lorelai says it’s over and drives off to work.

Lorelai goes to the Dragonfly and tells Sookie she and Luke broke up. Sookie keeps saying they’ll work things out, but Lorelai says she’s done, she doesn’t want to see him anymore because it hurts too much. Meanwhile, Luke is in a horrible crabby mood at the diner. He sees Taylor and Kirk doing something outside so he goes out to investigate. Taylor is having a red light camera installed.

Rory goes to the Dragonfly to be with her mom. She says she already misses Logan and doesn’t want to talk about it. Lorelai tells her about her and Luke’s breakup and says she doesn’t want to talk about it, either. The Girls decide to spend the day together doing something other than talking. Michel suggests they play racquetball.

Logan calls and asks if Rory got his gift. She says it’s great, and Logan says he’s so glad she gets it. The Girls sit on the racquetball court and talk about what the rocket could possibly mean. When Rory suggests they talk about Luke, Lorelai decides to actually try racquetballing. Lorelai manages to hit herself in the eye. That’s the end of racquetball for the Girls.

Rory goes to the market to get some steak for Lorelai to put on her swelling eye. She gets there in time to see Taylor’s demonstration of the red light camera. Kirk drives Taylor’s ‘64 Ford Thunderbird down the street, but the camera flashes so brightly that he gets blinded and loses control of the car. He drives the car through the window of the diner. The tow truck guy tells Luke he needs to either take the car out of the diner or he leaves and Luke waits for the insurance guys. Luke starts freaking out about people pressuring him to make decisions. He says he needs time to decide what to do.

The Girls spend the rest of the evening getting rid of everything that reminds Lorelai of Luke. In the end, the living room is totally empty. Christopher calls and says he had a really great time last night. He wants to get together the next night, but Lorelai says she doesn’t think they should see each other romantically again. Christopher is pretty understanding.

Rory wakes Lorelai up in the middle of the night and says she’s finally figured out what the rocket thing is all about. It’s from a Twilight Zone episode, Logan’s favorite, and long story short, the rocket means true love. Rory calls Logan and says she wants to come to London to visit. He says he’s already gotten her a ticket to come see her over Christmas. She acts happy, but she’s sad that it’s so far away.

Lorelai wakes up early the next morning when Luke drives up. He says he’s thought about it and he wants to elope. He’s packed up his truck and filled up the gas tank and he’s ready to go. Lorelai says it’s over and that she slept with Christopher. Luke doesn’t say a word, just turns around and gets in his truck and leaves.

Paris: I can scare the stupid out of you, but the lazy runs deep.

Also in this episode: Sookie and Michel arm wrestle and Sookie wins. Michel spends the rest of the episode with a bandage wrapped around his wrist, complaining about how much it hurts.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Twenty-Two: Partings

Posted By Shannon on June 1, 2010

Lorelai wakes up on Sookie’s couch and overhears Jackson asking Sookie what’s wrong with Lorelai. Sookie tells him she doesn’t know what’s going on. Lorelai goes home and thanks Miss Patty for taking care of Paul Anka. Luke comes over looking for Lorelai, but she asks Miss Patty to tell him she’s not home.

Taylor is walking around town when he sees a guy playing guitar. There’s another guy playing a keyboard and the other troubadour is back. Taylor doesn’t know what the hell is going on. Kirk tells him the regular troubadour has been discovered and now other musicians have come to Stars Hollow in the hopes of also being discovered. Taylor tells them all to leave, but the next time he goes to the town square, it’s full of people playing guitars. The real troubadour comes back upset because he only made seven hundred dollars and got booed.

Richard and Emily are donating a large sum of money to Yale in Rory’s name, and they want to donate it in the form of “The Rory Gilmore Astronomy Building.” Rory is horrified. Christopher shows up for Friday night dinner, and so does the woman Emily wants to set him up with. Her name is Carolyn and she’s a psychologist. Lorelai goes to the bathroom and Christopher follows her to try to come up with a plan of escape.

Logan is graduating from college. Rory has the whole evening planned out because he’s going to be going to London. Logan’s parents take him out after the ceremony and Mitchum makes him late coming back. Rory has to go to Friday night dinner, and she ends up sharing an elevator with Mitchum on her way out. She tells him she’s pissed that she’s sending him off to London, but Mitchum says he’s sending Logan away because it’s time for him to grow up and he wants his son to use his potential instead of drinking every night and jumping out of planes. Logan comes back from hanging out with Colin and Finn later to find a surprise party. The place is decorated with Union Jacks and Rory is speaking in a horrible British accent.

When Lorelai leaves after dinner, Carolyn is in her car finishing up a phone call. Lorelai asks her if she has a minute, and she ends up in Carolyn’s back seat telling her all about what’s been going on with Luke. She says she is totally ready to get married and have another kid, and it’s making her feel like crap that Luke is making her wait. Carolyn advises her to tell Luke exactly how she feels.

Lorelai goes to the diner and tells Luke she wants to elope. She says she’s waited and waited and she’s going crazy. He says he can’t just take off and get married right now, but Lorelai says it’s now or never. She walks away and Luke lets her go. She ends up at Christopher’s place.

The next morning, Logan leaves for his year in London, and Lorelai wakes up in Christopher’s bed.

Taylor: Who’s Neil Young?

Kirk: One of the Monkees.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Twenty-One: Driving Miss Gilmore

Jackson goes to his back half acre, which he hasn’t visited for quite a while, and finds it’s turned into a field full of marijuana. He figures it was planted by a couple of guys who used to work for him. He gathers it all into garbage bags, and he and Sookie freak out trying to get rid of it.

Liz comes to the diner and tells Luke she’s pregnant but TJ has left her. Luke finds TJ in a bar and tries to fight him. TJ says he didn’t leave Liz, she told him he was going to mess up the baby’s life and threw him out. Luke tries to explain that Liz is really afraid she’s going to mess things up and is just taking it out on TJ. He takes TJ back to the diner to make up with Liz.

Logan is home from the hospital. He wakes up one morning and finds Paris and Doyle in his apartment. Rory had to go to the newspaper office so she got them to watch Logan. At the paper, Bill shows Rory an article in the Wall Street Journal. It’s an interview with Mitchum in which he takes credit for Rory being the editor of the Yale Daily News. Rory is livid. She calls the Journal, but they can’t do anything for her.

Emily has decided to get laser eye surgery. The surgery goes badly and Emily is temporarily blind. She needs to run errands so she asks Lorelai to drive her around in a car she’s rented with super duper tinting on the windows. She’s really annoying and by the end of the night Lorelai is ready to kill her. Emily’s last stop is at a real estate office and she makes Lorelai come inside with her. A woman shows them pictures of a house, and Emily tells Lorelai the house will be a wedding present for her and Luke. Lorelai starts crying and says she doesn’t think she’s ever getting married. She’s really depressed, so she goes to Jackson’s and Sookie’s to spend the night there.

Lorelai: There’s no one else?

Emily: I don’t remember being in labor for fourteen hours with anyone else.

Also in this episode: The town troubadour has been discovered by a tour manager. He’s going to be opening for Neil Young for a bunch of east coast dates.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Twenty: Super Cool Party People

Posted By Shannon on May 28, 2010

Sookie tells Lorelai all the crazy things she did at the wedding the night before. Lorelai is horrified. Luke is back from April’s trip. He says he’s throwing a birthday party for April the next day and he turns down Lorelai’s offer to help out. He also won’t let her help him pick out a gift. He says he’s afraid if Lorelai gets involved in April’s life, April will like her better and won’t like him anymore. He lays down the law and says he’s April’s father and this is the way he wants it to be.

Rory can’t get any information about Logan from the hospital staff. She’s pissed that Colin and Finn don’t seem to care about Logan and are making a big joke out of everything. She calls Paris for help. Paris calls the hospital, yells at people for a minute and then calls Rory back and gives her the scoop. Logan has a whole slew of problems, including a partially collapsed lung and six broken ribs, but he’s expected to make a full recovery.

April’s party is a total disaster. Luke scares everyone when he tells them all they’re not allowed to go into the kitchen or they might burn their faces off. The girls just sit around playing cards and reading books. Luke calls Lorelai and begs her to come and help. Lorelai gives the girls makeovers and makes the party totally awesome. Lorelai hopes this means things are going to be different from now on.

Rory talks to Honor and finds out Mitchum isn’t coming to the hospital because he thinks Logan needs to grow up and quit doing Life and Death Brigade stuff. Rory calls him and tells him he’s a narcissistic ass and he needs to get to the hospital to see his son.

Anna comes to the diner the day after the party and yells at Luke for letting Lorelai, a woman she’s never met, help with the party and spend the night with April and her friends. Luke tells Lorelai how upset Anna is, so Lorelai goes to Anna’s store and apologizes for the party. Anna says she doesn’t want Lorelai involved in April’s life until she and Luke are married.

Luke, to Lorelai: You’re practically a cartoon character.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Nineteen: I Get a Sidekick Out of You

Posted By Shannon on May 27, 2010

The Kim house is bustling while wedding preparations are being made. Lorelai brings over the dress, which has been altered tremendously. Mrs. Kim gets a phone call and kind of freaks out. Her mother is coming, leaving Korea for the first time in forty-five years. Mrs. Kim starts hiding all her crucifixes and replacing them with Buddha statues. Mrs. Kim’s mother has no idea that her daughter is a Seventh Day Adventist.

The bachelorette party runs into the bachelor party. The bars are all closed and there’s nothing to do, so everyone ends up hanging out in Brian’s aunt’s basement.

When Lorelai tells her Luke is out of town and won’t be at the wedding, Mrs. Kim freaks out and says she absolutely has to bring a date. She decides to bring Michel, but he cancels because he gets front row tickets to see Celine Dion. Rory, who has apparently forgotten about all the drama that happens every time her father comes around, suggests Lorelai bring Christopher. Lorelai, equally forgetful, thinks it’s a great idea.

Everyone gathers at the Kim house for a weird Buddhist wedding. When Lane’s grandmother sees that Zack is white, she starts yelling in Korean. She gets in her cab and leaves. As soon as she’s gone, the whole congregation runs to the church for the real wedding. There are 58 seats and 62 Koreans, so everyone races to find a seat.

The wedding is a big success. Hep Alien plays. Kirk fires all the bartenders because they’re “too yummy” and he thinks Lulu likes them. Brian makes out with Kyon. Lorelai gets completely trashed and gets up on stage and starts talking about how she’s never going to get married. Christopher and Rory drag her away and take her home. When they get there, Rory gets a phone call. Logan has gotten hurt on his trip and Rory goes to the hospital to see him. Later, Luke calls and wakes Lorelai up. She’s surprised to see Christopher sleeping in a chair in her bedroom.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Eighteen: The Real Paul Anka

Posted By Shannon on May 25, 2010

Lorelai has a crazy dream about the real Paul Anka and the dog Paul Anka and she calls Rory to tell her all about it.

Rory is still freezing out Logan. She takes a piece away from him for the paper and uses his research to write it herself. When she gets home from the paper, Colin and Finn are there. They’re all planning a Life and Death Brigade stunt that involves jumping out of a plane and white water rafting. Rory has to spoil their fun by talking about how dangerous it’s going to be. The other guys leave and Logan says he’s pissed that Rory hasn’t forgiven him yet. He packs his bag and leaves the next day.

Luke leaves for his trip with April’s math class. He has a good time on the bus and talks to a kid named Freddy. April later tells him she has a crush on Freddy and Luke should go sit with the other parents. The trip takes them to Philadelphia, so Luke takes April to the bookstore Jess runs. It’s some kind open house and Rory shows up, too. She and Jess kiss, and then Rory kind of freaks out. She can’t bring herself to cheat on Logan because she’s in love with him. Jess is upset.

Mrs. Kim brings her wedding dress to Lorelai and asks her to alter it for Lane to wear. It’s huge and horrible and there are pants. Lane asks Lorelai to do something drastic to it. Lorelai makes no promises, but when she gets it on the mannequin, she purposely pours coffee all over it so she has an excuse to really change it.

Lorelai sees her parents walking around Stars Hollow looking at houses. She says hello to them and they act very mysterious. She walks around with them and talks about how horrible Stars Hollow is. Emily runs off, and Lorelai and Richard find her later at the diner playing Go Fish with some strange kid. She thinks the kid is April. Lorelai tells her she and Luke have agreed that Lorelai won’t be involved in April’s life. Emily assumes it’s all Lorelai’s fault.

Emily: This isn’t Luke’s daughter? Here I was bonding with it!

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Seventeen: I’m OK, You’re OK

Posted By Shannon on May 25, 2010

Rory and Paris eat Chinese food and talk about the things they’re going to do to improve the apartment. Logan comes over and tries to talk to Rory, but Paris tells him off. Then Doyle, still wearing Rory’s coat, comes over to tell Paris he wants to get back together. Rory and Logan go out into the hallway and talk. Logan makes his case and says he thought they were broken up when he slept with those other girls. It’s clear Rory is still angry, but she tells Logan she forgives him and agrees to go home with him. Then she disappears to Stars Hollow for the weekend. She tells Lorelai it was all a misunderstanding and things are fine between her and Logan.

Lane, Zack and Brian have all moved back into their apartment and band practices are going to start tomorrow. The only thing left to do is for Zack to go to Mrs. Kim to ask for Lane’s hand in marriage. He brings over letters of recommendation and bank statements. Mrs. Kim says she wants to make sure he can provide for Lane doing what he wants to do, so she asks him to bring her a demo. She says Hep Alien needs a hit if Zack is going to marry Lane. Zack spends the next twenty hours writing a song that Mrs. Kim approves of. She gives Lane her grandmother’s ring.

Emily and Richard are driving to an estate sale and decide to stop in Stars Hollow. They walk around the house criticizing the remodel. Emily is of course offended that this is the first time she’s seen the remodel at the house. Logan keeps calling during dinner, but Rory turns off her phone. Kirk comes to the inn the next day. He’s training to be a real estate agent and he tells Lorelai her parents are looking for a place in Stars Hollow.

April calls Luke to ask him to chaperone a school trip. Lorelai tells him he should go. Rory wants to go to Woodbridge to Anna Nardini’s store to check her out. Lorelai says no so Rory goes herself. She brings back a Pan Am stewardess’s bag for Lorelai. Lorelai is pretty upset that Rory went behind her back, but Rory thinks it’s crazy that Lorelai isn’t pushing to find out more about April and Anna. Me too, Rory. The Girls go to the diner later and Rory sees a bag that she saw earlier at Anna’s store. Lorelai asks him where he got it and he says Anna sent it over. Lorelai is clearly upset but she pretends she’s not.

When Rory gets home on Sunday night, Logan is really upset. He hasn’t heard from her all weekend and had no idea where she was. She’s very dismissive and says everything’s fine. She’s clearly still mad but she pretends she’s not. I hate the Gilmore Girls sometimes.

Michel, to Rory: No, Little Lorelai, it is not the cost that is the issue.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Sixteen: Bridesmaids Revisited

Posted By Shannon on May 24, 2010

Lane is looking for a band because Hep Alien is still not talking. Zack sees her putting up an ad at the music store. He goes to the bat mitzvah where Gil and Brian are playing in their new band. He apologizes for the way things went down and says he wants to get the band back together. They say they’re in if Zack can get Lane in. Zack goes to the diner. He tells Lane he’s missed her and then gives her a ring and asks her to marry him. She says yes.

Rory is on some kind of journalism panel at Yale. Logan can’t go because he’s going to Honor’s rehearsal dinner. Christopher goes, and afterward he and Lorelai talk about GG. He needs someone to watch her on Sunday, so Lorelai volunteers. GG is the brattiest kid ever. She screams and colors on the floor. When Christopher comes home, Lorelai tactfully tries to tell him GG is spoiled and Chris should give her some more discipline. Christopher just gets pissed and takes GG home. He calls later to apologize and he says Lorelai was right.

Logan and Rory go to Honor’s wedding. Logan goes off to help the groom get ready, and Honor kidnaps Rory and makes her hang out with her and the bridesmaids. Honor goes off to have some pictures taken, and the bridesmaids start talking about Logan. It turns almost all of them hooked up with him while he and Rory were broken up over the winter. Rory misses the ceremony and Logan comes to the dressing room afterward and asks Rory what’s going on. He apologizes for not telling her about those girls but maintains he did nothing wrong.  She tells him not to be at the apartment for a few hours the next day so she can get her stuff.

Rory goes to a campus bar and gets drunk with Doyle. Paris is back on the newspaper and is being unpleasant to everyone, and Doyle has been having a really rough time with her. He tells her Paris kicked him out. Rory and Doyle stumble out the door together and Rory gives him her coat because he’s cold. He gives her a hug and tries to kiss her neck. She freaks out and tells him to go back to Paris. Then Rory realizes she has nowhere to go, so she goes to Paris and Doyle’s place to talk. Paris says Rory can move back in.

Luke, to Kirk: Stop sniffing my fiancé.

Gil, to Zack: You’re way deep in my bogus bag and it’s Ziplocked shut.

Rory: Logan had many, many blondes for Thanksgiving.

Gilmore Girls Season Six, Episode Fifteen: A Vineyard Valentine

Posted By Shannon on May 21, 2010

Sookie is in a funk because she doesn’t know what to serve on Valentine’s Day. Lorelai is also bummed because Luke hasn’t made any plans for Valentine’s Day. A zydeco band comes to the inn and starts playing. Lorelai set it up a while back because she was thinking of having them play for the wedding.

Logan wants to go away with Rory to Martha’s Vineyard for the weekend and he says she should invite Luke and Lorelai to come, too. Luke is really crabby about everything; he’s afraid to leave the bedroom and he’s sure Logan and Rory are going to break up while they’re there. He thinks everything Logan says to Rory is a slight. When he wakes up in the morning, he eats a power bar because he doesn’t know what the deal is with breakfast.

They all go to the gym, where the Girls get massages and the boys play basketball. Luke didn’t bring any kind of workout clothes, so he has to buy sweats and shoes from the gym’s store. When they get back, Luke is still complaining about everything and Lorelai finally gets fed up and yells at him. She goes out to the kitchen to help with dinner, and Luke goes out to the deck to help with the lobsters. Logan says he’s going to give Rory her Valentine’s Day present at dinner, and Luke says he didn’t get Lorelai anything. Logan says he got Rory a bracelet and a necklace, so he lets Luke have one to give to Lorelai.

Rory tells Lorelai she and Logan are planning to go to Asia after the school year ends. Then she says she thinks Logan might be “the one.” Later, Lorelai tells Luke she feels like the wedding isn’t going to happen. Luke assures her that he loves her and they will definitely get married one of these days.

The next morning, Mitchum shows up and starts yelling at Logan. He was supposed to be in London this weekend. He also says Logan is going to be in London for a year, starting the day after graduation. I’ve never been really for sure on what exactly he’s supposed to be doing in London, but I’m guessing it’s newspaper stuff.

When Luke and Lorelai get back to Stars Hollow, Luke says April is coming by from three to seven the next day, so Lorelai says she’ll see Luke after seven. I hate that she doesn’t just tell him she wants to be involved. When Lorelai gets home, she has a ton of messages on her machine congratulating her on her upcoming wedding. Apparently, Emily put a wedding announcement in the paper.

Rory: You guys have fun throwing the old hoop around?
