Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Twelve: To Whom it May Concern

Posted By Shannon on June 18, 2010

Sookie comes over early one morning with coffee and muffin tops. She and Jackson were planning a ski trip, but their baby-sitter got sick. The coffee and muffins are a bribe. Lorelai agrees and then they both get weird when Sookie says she got the coffee from Luke’s. Sookie gets oddly emotional when she thanks Lorelai for baby-sitting. Christopher comes downstairs and he gets weird about the coffee, too.

Lucy still won’t talk to Rory, so Rory writes her a letter and leaves it on her door. Paris has made plans for the final five months of school. Rory goes to Richard’s office at Yale to ask him to set up a meeting with the dean for her and Paris. Paris gets irritated when Rory is distracted by Lucy at lunch. She goes over to Lucy’s table and yells at her for not answering Rory’s letter yet. Lucy forgives Rory and says she and Marty broke up.

Sookie and Jackson come back early because Sookie wanted a drink at lunch and Jackson wouldn’t let her get one. He also wouldn’t let her ski. Lorelai asks her what’s going on, and Jackson says Sookie is pregnant and doesn’t know it. Jackson didn’t actually get that vasectomy, but he never told Sookie and she went off the pill last month and now she’s pregnant. She gets a little upset when Jackson tells her. Lorelai tries to remind her of all the good things about babies.

Luke and Anna go to court. While they’re waiting in the hallway, Anna acts like a total bitch and says the whole thing is a waste of time because Luke will never win. Meanwhile, Christopher finds a copy of the character reference Lorelai wrote. The letter is a big success at court, but not so much at the Hayden-Gilmore house. Christopher is convinced Lorelai is still in love with Luke, so he leaves, saying he “can’t handle this.” Lorelai wakes up the next morning and Christopher still hasn’t come home. Then Luke calls and says that thanks to Lorelai’s letter, Luke is going to get shared custody.

Rory is sitting in Richard’s economics class when Richard appears to have a heart attack.

Sookie: I hope we have a girl. Oh! Or a boy!

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Eleven: Santa’s Secret Stuff

Posted By Shannon on June 17, 2010

Rory is back from her Christmas trip to England to see Logan. Lorelai says she saved Christmas for her, so they set up trees and decorate in the middle of January. Christopher wants to start new traditions, so he’s gotten new stockings for everyone and he wants to go caroling. He walks around the house singing really badly.

Luke goes to the inn and tells Lorelai about Anna not letting him see April. He says his lawyer wants a character reference, and Lorelai immediately agrees to write one for him and send it to his lawyer’s office. She does not tell Christopher. Rory thinks she should and nags her about it, but Lorelai tells her Christopher is really tense about Luke.

Lane is HUGELY pregnant and she’s being really mean to everyone at the diner. Zack and Mrs. Kim have been shopping together. They’ve been driving Lane crazy making sure she’s taking care of herself. She’s upset when she sees a crib where her drumset used to be, so she decides it’s time for a band practice. Zack calls Gil and Brian. They come over and Brian can’t stop staring at Lane’s belly, and Zack teaches Brian – using guitars – how to hold a baby. When Gil gets there, the boys can’t stop talking about the breast pump Lane got. Lane is worried she won’t be rock and roll anymore once she has the babies.

April shows up at the diner, but Anna doesn’t know she’s there. He says he should take her home, but he decides they can have some dinner first. He tries to tell her New Mexico won’t be so bad, but she’s not hearing it. Luke didn’t get to see her over Christmas, so he gives her the rock polisher he got her. April already has one, so they go to return it. That’s where they run into Lorelai and Rory, who are doing their Christmas shopping. Rory and Luke talk about some of the gifts Luke has given her over the years, and the conversation inspires Lorelai to write a super awesome character reference. She finally finishes the letter and goes down the street to mail it from the public mailbox.

Michel, to Luke: Oh. You. I thought we were done with you.

Michel, to Luke: I’ve often wondered. Does someone in your family own a flannel company?

Liz brings the baby to the diner, and they talk about what’s going on with Anna. He’s come up with a list of things he wants (one month every summer, Christmas or Thanksgiving). Liz tells him to get a lawyer, but he thinks he and Anna can work things out on their own. He is mistaken, however. Anna decides April can’t see him anymore, so Luke talks to a lawyer. The lawyer tells him it’s going to be a long and drawn out process and he’ll probably lose.

Rory tells Lorelai that she can’t make it to dinner that night because Logan is coming to town. Rory and Logan run into Marty and Lucy, and Logan is confused when Lucy acts like Marty and Rory didn’t know each other back in the day when he knew Logan. Logan thinks she needs to tell Lucy the truth. They all decide to go to dinner the next night.

Luke takes the baby for a walk around town, and he runs into Lorelai outside the market. She holds the baby and they talk about Liz and TJ for a minute. Christopher sees them and gets jealous, and later that night he tells Lorelai he wants to have a baby with her. He gets pissy when she doesn’t immediately agree and start the baby-making right then and there.

Emily makes Lorelai come to a banquet hall to talk about plans for the wedding party. She’s gotten Randall Farber, some famous party planner. Christopher shows up and acts like a jackass because he’s still angry about the baby thing. He picks a fight with her in front of Emily and Randall, and then he takes off. I fucking hate Christopher.

Logan and Lucy get along beautifully at dinner, but Marty is kind of snarky to Logan. Lucy asks Logan and Rory how they met, and Logan says Marty introduced them, that they were good friends as freshmen. Lucy gets freaked out and she and Marty run off. Rory gets mad at Logan, and he decides to go back to New York rather than stay with Rory like he’d planned. Rory goes to Lucy’s apartment to try to talk to her, but Olivia answers the door and tells her to get lost.

Christopher gets drunk, and he sees Luke when he leaves the bar. They have a weird and awkward fight in the town square. They roll around on the ground for a bit and then they both walk away. Emily comes to Lorelai’s house and tells her marriage is about compromise and that Lorelai needs to take things seriously.

Lucy, to Logan: Congratulations on buying the internet or something.

The Gilmores are super happy about Lorelai and Christopher getting married, though Emily is a little upset that they eloped and Lorelai left her a message on her answering machine. She’s even kept the tape from the machine, and she plays the message at Friday night dinner. Richard and Emily want to throw a wedding party.

Logan helps Rory move into Paris and Doyle’s place, and then he has to go back to New York. Rory brings some stuff over to Lucy and Olivia’s to get ready for Lucy’s birthday party. Marty is there and he acts really strange. Rory is getting irritated, but Lorelai tells her to be the bigger person and be nice to him.

Lorelai is getting ready for the Stars Hollow Knitathon. She says she has to go into town to get needles and doesn’t want Christopher to go with her. She tells him she wants to give the town some time to get used to her not being with Luke, but he convinces her it will be okay. Babette is cold and distant, Miss Patty tells him he must be bored living in Stars Hollow, and Luke gets annoyed when he sees them together. Lorelai tells Sookie that everyone is being “cordial” and it’s weird. They decide that to get the town on board with Christopher, he should go to the bar with Jackson, and people will start liking him if they see Jackson likes him.

Anna comes to Luke’s and tells him her mother is doing badly, so Anna and April are going to move to New Mexico to be near her. Luke is very understanding, but April is a mess. She doesn’t want to go. Luke gives Anna some suggestions about how to make the move easier for April, like maybe they can wait until school is over or April can stay at Luke’s when Anna leaves, but Anna gets pissed and says she doesn’t want Luke talking to April about the move anymore. She is such a bitch.

Lorelai doesn’t like the shirt Christopher wants to wear on his man date with Jackson. Christopher doesn’t get what the big deal is, but Lorelai tells him that people aren’t really okay with him yet. The man date is weird and awkward, but Jackson warms up when Christopher conveys – using farming metaphors – how much he cares about Lorelai. Things are looking up, but then at the Knitathon, he goes ahead and pledges all the money needed to fix the bridge, not really understanding that everyone was looking forward to a day of Stars Hollow knitting fun. They all pack up, disappointed, and go home.

TJ comes to the diner and tells Luke that Liz is having the baby at home and she wants Luke to be there. Liz and TJ name the baby Dulla (Doola? Not sure of the spelling there). After Luke holds the baby, he goes to Anna’s and tells her he’s not going to let her take April away from him.

At Lucy’s party, Rory confronts Marty and asks him to apologize for being a jerk. He stops acting like a robot. They both get tipsy and flirt a little. Marty tells Rory she’s beautiful, and she tells him to go dance with Lucy. He gets up and gives Lucy a huge make-out kiss.

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Eight: Introducing Lorelai Planetarium

Posted By Shannon on June 14, 2010

Christopher wants to get a flat screen television but Lorelai loves her crappy television and won’t talk about it. Rory calls and Lorelai tells her she has to come over that night. She and Chris don’t want to put off telling her about them getting married. Lorelai thinks she’s going to be upset, but Chris is sure Rory will be thrilled.

Rory comes home and finds Logan in the apartment. Yay, Logan! Whatever is going on with his job, it’s making it possible for him to live in New York. He’s going apartment hunting tomorrow. Rory goes home for dinner and her parents tell her they’re married. She smiles and says she’s happy, but when Chris leaves the room for a minute she says she’s really mad that they got married without her.

April is still staying with Luke. She wants to go to her friend Sabrina’s party, but Luke is a little weirded out because it’s a boy-girl party. He asks if there’s going to be kissing at the party and April gets grossed out. The day of the party, April has a stomach ache and a fever. Luke says she can’t go to the party if she’s sick, and April starts screaming and says he sucks as a dad.

Rory goes to Logan’s launch party thing and tells him about her parents. He offers to go outside with her and talk about it, but Rory says it’s okay. Logan introduces Rory to a guy named Hugo who is starting a new online magazine. Hugo says she should submit some pieces to him for his magazine. Rory writes something about the party and has Logan read it the next morning. He gets angry because she’s so judgmental about his social class. He says something really mean about how she’s not paying rent. She stomps away and goes to Lucy and Olivia’s.

Chris starts moving stuff around in Rory’s room to get it ready for GG. Lorelai tells him Rory is already upset and they should give her some time to get used to things before they start moving her stuff into the garage.

Rory was under the impression that her article was funny, but Lucy and Olivia tell her it’s totally mean. She goes home and she and Logan both apologize, but Rory says she has to move out of his apartment. Then Lorelai comes over. Logan takes off so they can talk. Rory says she’s happy for Lorelai and Chris and what she’s upset about is that she wasn’t there.

Luke doesn’t know what to do with April so he calls Lorelai and asks her advice. Lorelai says it might be appendicitis and says he should take her to the hospital. Lorelai for some reason goes to the hospital to see what’s going on. They took out April’s appendix. Luke sees Lorelai’s wedding ring.

When Lorelai gets home, she tells Chris that April is fine and that Rory really is happy for them. Meanwhile, Luke is at the hospital watching some black and white movie and making one of those “I’m having an epiphany” faces but I have no idea what his epiphany might be.

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Seven: French Twist

Lorelai, Chris and GG head off to Paris. After dropping GG with Sherry, Chris and Lorelai go to the hotel and promptly fall asleep. They don’t wake up until four in the morning. They try to get a couple more hours of sleep, but they’re starving. They hit the streets in search of late night snacks, but everything is closed. They go back to the hotel and have sex for a while, and then Chris says he’s going to fix things.

Rory is stepping down as editor-in-chief of the Yale Daily News. I don’t know why, it’s some kind of rule. The other staffers give her a really nice goodbye, complete with presents and everything. Paris is a little upset and tells Rory how lonely and sad she’ll be without her editorship. Rory sits around that night all by herself and then finally calls Lucy and Olivia. They say they want to get out of town for a while, so Rory says they should go to Stars Hollow and hang out at her house.

Lane and Zack are having twins. Zack says it’s time to tell Mrs. Kim about the pregnancy. They go have dinner and Lane blurts out the news. Mrs. Kim congratulates them and says they should move in with her on Monday. Zack says, “Cool.” They fret about how they’re going to deal with this, but then they realize they’re grownups and can decide for themselves where they’re going to live. They tell Mrs. Kim they don’t want to move in with her, so she says she’ll move in with them.

Rory and her friends dye their hair and make Rice Krispies treats. Then she suddenly starts crying. She’s got some graduation anxiety because she doesn’t know what exactly she’s going to be doing after college. Lucy and Olivia tell her they feel the same way. When they all get back to Yale, Lucy introduces her to her boyfriend, who turns out to be Marty. She starts to say hello to him, but he introduces himself as though she’s a stranger. Rory doesn’t know what to make of it.

Chris takes Lorelai to a really fancy restaurant that opens just for them. Lorelai is really impressed and touched that Chris went to so much trouble for her. They finish eating as the sun comes up, and then Chris asks Lorelai to marry him right there in Paris. She wants to wait until they get home, but Chris convinces her they should go ahead and do it. So they do. Ugh.

Mrs. Kim: You want two separate beds, correct?

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Six: Go Bulldogs!

Posted By Shannon on June 10, 2010

Christopher wants to go to a parents’ weekend at Yale, but Lorelai thinks that’s for lame parents whose kids don’t like them. Chris really wants to go, so Lorelai gives in. God, I hate that she thinks she’s too cool for everything.

A new farmer in town comes to the Dragonfly with fruit and vegetable samples. Sookie thinks they’re good and then feels guilty for enjoying another man’s vegetables.

April is still staying at Luke’s. He goes to school to pick her up from swim practice, and her coach convinces him he should take swim lessons when he mentions he doesn’t know how to swim. Coach Susan takes a special interest in Luke and then asks him to dinner. Kirk tells Luke he’s breaking up with Lulu because he wants Luke’s single life. Luke tells him he should worship Lulu for even talking to him. Then he calls the swim coach and accepts her dinner invitation.

Chris and Lorelai meet some parents and the fathers make Chris feel bad when they start talking about all the stuff they did to get their kids to Yale. Emily is at Parents Weekend. Lorelai asks her what the hell she and Richard are doing there. Emily says they’ve been going every year since Rory was a freshman and they always take her out to dinner. Lorelai is upset that Rory didn’t say anything about Emily and Richard being there. Chris drags Lorelai to a lecture. He gets totally into it and asks questions at the end, and Lorelai looks embarrassed and then amused.

Rory introduces her parents to the newspaper crew and Christopher invites them all to join them for lunch. At lunch, he starts talking about a ski trip he’s going on this winter and he says all Rory’s friends should come. Lorelai asks Rory if she actually hangs out with any of these people. She doesn’t. Before dessert can be served, everyone’s phones go crazy and Rory makes everyone get to work on the student protest that just happened. Chris feels like an ass for buying everyone drinks because they’re all drunk now and Rory’s going to be at the paper all night.

Lane comes over to babysit while Luke goes out with Susan. Susan takes Luke to a vegan restaurant and makes him sit next to her instead of across from her, and then she starts talking about another single dad she used to date. She’s pretty much a psycho. When Luke gets home, he tells April he won’t be seeing her again.

April: So, you’re still calling her “Coach Bennett?”

Luke: Oh, I think she’ll just remain “Coach Bennett” to me.

Also in this episode: There’s an a cappella group (played by actual Whiffenpoofs) at Yale singing “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Five: The Great Stink

Posted By Shannon on June 9, 2010

Rory gets a call from Logan. He tells her there’s a meteor shower and she should go up on the roof of the apartment building to see it. When she gets up there, Logan is on the roof with dinner. His team has been trying to buy a website or something and they have a breakfast meeting the next morning.

Lorelai spends the night at Christopher’s and makes fun of his TiVo choices. Chris says he got a letter from Sherry, her first contact since the divorce (they were married?). Sherry is living in France and dating her yoga instructor. She’s feeling bad about what happened and she wants to be part of GG’s life.

Stars Hollow smells. Taylor calls an emergency town meeting, which Lorelai skips so she doesn’t have to see Luke. Taylor says a train derailed east of town a few days ago, and a whole lot of pickles have been baking in the sun. He thinks they should just wait it out because he doesn’t want to spend the $2,500 it would cost to have them cleaned up. The town votes unanimously to just get it done.

Christopher says he talked to Sherry and she wants him to send GG to Paris to stay with her for a few months. He says he thinks it’s a good idea and he’s planning on sending the nanny with her. Lorelai of course thinks it’s a horrible idea but doesn’t say anything because she’s so used to Luke not wanting her to have an opinion about April.

Logan calls Rory and says his team got the deal they were looking for and he’s sending a car to pick Rory up to celebrate. When she gets to the restaurant, she’s upset when she finds the whole team is there. She wanted to spend the evening alone with him. And she’s very surprised when Bobby turns out to be a hot chick named Bobbie. Rory is bored to tears at all the descriptions of the morning’s meeting, and she gets annoyed at all the boys’ constant shows of admiration for Bobbie.

Lorelai brings up her concerns about Paris while she and Chris are on their way to Friday night dinner. Chris gets upset, of course, and assumes Lorelai is threatened by Sherry. He acts like an ass through dinner, and Lorelai finally says she wants to talk to him in the bathroom. She tries to tell him she understands why he’s upset, and he says, “Thanks for telling me how I feel.” And then he walks out. I hate Christopher. They’re having drinks in the living room later, and Chris interrupts Emily’s tirade about tennis to ask Lorelai to go to Paris with him and GG.

After dinner, Rory tells Logan she thought Bobbie was a guy and she was a little thrown. She also rants a little about how condescending Bobbie was at dinner and how much she’s missed Logan. Logan leaves, and Rory goes to catch drinks at the grandparents’ house. When she gets there, Lorelai shows everyone pictures of Emily being released from jail.

Emily: If I wanted to play ping-pong I would kill myself.

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Four: ‘S Wonderful, ‘S Marvelous

Posted By Shannon on June 8, 2010

Lorelai and Christopher are now dating; they’ve seen five bad movies in a row, Snakes on a Plane being the latest. Lorelai goes inside and she and Rory talk about things. Rory says she’s glad things are good between Lorelai and Chris, but she wants her to be careful with her feelings. Sookie gives her the same talk the next day. Lorelai is annoyed.

Anna is going out of town because her mother is having surgery and Anna’s going to be with her. While she’s gone, April will be staying with Luke. April says Luke’s apartment is kind of depressing, so she suggests they go to Target to get some things. When they get back, April says he can use the new candles and tablecloth to impress any ladies who come over. Luke tells her he’s okay being single.

School is starting again, so Rory moves back into Logan’s apartment (it’s paid for through the end of the year). She’s feeling a little lonely with Logan gone. She goes to an art thing for the paper and meets a couple of girls, Olivia and Lucy, and they take her under their wing and explain some of the art to her. She takes them back to her apartment after the show and they hang out. (Lucy’s the one in the horrible Cindy Brady dress.)

Christopher takes Lorelai on a super special date in a pretty red convertible. They drive to a barn in the middle of nowhere and park. Christopher honks the horn and suddenly a projector starts up and Funny Face starts playing on the wall of the barn. There’s popcorn in the console, snacks in the glove compartment and drinks in a cooler in the backseat. After the movie, Christopher asks Lorelai if she wants to spend the night at his place. She says she’s not sure if she’s ready for that step yet.

Emily is driving home from a dinner and talking to Richard about his first day as a guest lecturer at Yale, and she gets pulled over for driving while talking on a cell phone. The cop thinks she’s been drinking and tries to get her to take a Breathalyzer. While out with Christopher, Lorelai gets a call from someone saying she needs to pick Emily up from jail. She thinks it’s hilarious and takes pictures of all the cops. While they’re driving her home, Emily realizes Lorelai and Christopher were on a date.

After they drop Emily off at home, Christopher takes Lorelai home. She thanks him for going with him to get Emily from jail and then invites him inside.

Rory: I forget what the protocol is when your mom is dating your dad.

Lorelai: We have to go. We have to pick up my mother. From jail.

Also in this episode: Kirk’s having girl trouble. His mother and Lulu are giving him problems.

Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Three: Lorelai’s First Cotillion

Posted By Shannon on June 7, 2010

It’s time for Friday night dinner and Lorelai doesn’t want to go in and tell her parents about breaking up with Luke. Rory finally knocks on the door and some little girl answers it and takes their coats. Emily introduces the girl as Charlotte. Her grandparents are friends of the Gilmore and Emily is getting her ready for her first cotillion. Not being a society girl myself, I had to look that word up. I guess it’s like a debutante ball for little girls? Weird. Charlotte has dinner with the Gilmores and Emily teaches her about forks and table manners. Lorelai tells her parents about the breakup and can’t believe they don’t want to talk about it.

The next morning Lorelai is staring at a Pop-Tart, wondering if the only reason she likes Pop-Tarts because her mother doesn’t like them. She’s appalled when Emily shows up at the Dragonfly later to taste the menu for the tea she’s giving for all her little snobs-in-training. When the girls get there, Lorelai is disgusted and Michel is enchanted. He wants Lorelai to take him to the cotillion.

Rory goes to the diner and says hi to Luke. Then she asks Lane if she’s told Zack about the pregnancy. She says she’s going to wait a while. I guess she changes her mind, so she goes home and tells Zack and Brian she’s pregnant. Zack leaves the room, and after that he acts like he never heard the news at all. Lane eventually makes him talk about it, and when Zack finds out Lane is freaking out, he feels better.

Paris asks Rory how things are going with Logan and says they should start sexting each other to keep the relationship alive. She sends him a text and gets freaked out when he doesn’t reply. She finally calls him and he says he did reply. It went directly to her saved messages for some reason, but it’s a pretty damn good text.

At the cotillion, Michel praises Lorelai for how lovely everything is. One of the girls is wearing hot pink hi-top Chucks, so Lorelai figures she’s a kindred soul. Michel insists on dancing, so Lorelai gives in and dances with him. Christopher is at the house when Lorelai gets home because he and Rory had dinner together. Lorelai asks him to have coffee with him, but he says he doesn’t want to just have coffee. He’s in love with her and he wants to be with her. Lorelai thinks about it for a while, and then she calls Christopher. That’s where the episode ends.

Emily: You’re never too young to learn how to make a martini.

Emily: Lorelai, there’s nothing funny about being a lesbian.

Lorelai: I’ve hired some extra poor people for the girls to look down on.

Lane: This baby sucks.

Zack: This baby totally sucks!

Also in this episode: Luke is no longer wearing the blue hat Lorelai gave him way back when.
