Gilmore Girls Season Seven, Episode Nine: Knit, People, Knit

The Gilmores are super happy about Lorelai and Christopher getting married, though Emily is a little upset that they eloped and Lorelai left her a message on her answering machine. She’s even kept the tape from the machine, and she plays the message at Friday night dinner. Richard and Emily want to throw a wedding party.

Logan helps Rory move into Paris and Doyle’s place, and then he has to go back to New York. Rory brings some stuff over to Lucy and Olivia’s to get ready for Lucy’s birthday party. Marty is there and he acts really strange. Rory is getting irritated, but Lorelai tells her to be the bigger person and be nice to him.

Lorelai is getting ready for the Stars Hollow Knitathon. She says she has to go into town to get needles and doesn’t want Christopher to go with her. She tells him she wants to give the town some time to get used to her not being with Luke, but he convinces her it will be okay. Babette is cold and distant, Miss Patty tells him he must be bored living in Stars Hollow, and Luke gets annoyed when he sees them together. Lorelai tells Sookie that everyone is being “cordial” and it’s weird. They decide that to get the town on board with Christopher, he should go to the bar with Jackson, and people will start liking him if they see Jackson likes him.

Anna comes to Luke’s and tells him her mother is doing badly, so Anna and April are going to move to New Mexico to be near her. Luke is very understanding, but April is a mess. She doesn’t want to go. Luke gives Anna some suggestions about how to make the move easier for April, like maybe they can wait until school is over or April can stay at Luke’s when Anna leaves, but Anna gets pissed and says she doesn’t want Luke talking to April about the move anymore. She is such a bitch.

Lorelai doesn’t like the shirt Christopher wants to wear on his man date with Jackson. Christopher doesn’t get what the big deal is, but Lorelai tells him that people aren’t really okay with him yet. The man date is weird and awkward, but Jackson warms up when Christopher conveys – using farming metaphors – how much he cares about Lorelai. Things are looking up, but then at the Knitathon, he goes ahead and pledges all the money needed to fix the bridge, not really understanding that everyone was looking forward to a day of Stars Hollow knitting fun. They all pack up, disappointed, and go home.

TJ comes to the diner and tells Luke that Liz is having the baby at home and she wants Luke to be there. Liz and TJ name the baby Dulla (Doola? Not sure of the spelling there). After Luke holds the baby, he goes to Anna’s and tells her he’s not going to let her take April away from him.

At Lucy’s party, Rory confronts Marty and asks him to apologize for being a jerk. He stops acting like a robot. They both get tipsy and flirt a little. Marty tells Rory she’s beautiful, and she tells him to go dance with Lucy. He gets up and gives Lucy a huge make-out kiss.
