Gilmore Girls Season Three, Episode Nine: A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving
Emily comes to the inn because she hasn’t seen or heard from Lorelai since the trip to Yale. She wants Lorelai and Rory to come to Thanksgiving dinner and she absolutely will not take no for an answer. This means the girls will have four Thanksgivings to go to. They talk about it and decide Luke’s is the only one they can skip, but he looks really disappointed when they tell him. They don’t want to hurt his feelings, so Lorelai pretends she just called someone and found out they can make it after all. Luke looks happy.
Jess kisses Rory in front of the market and Rory tells him she doesn’t want to flaunt their relationship. Lorelai goes to the market and runs into Dean. He tries to avoid her, but she tells him she still likes him and doesn’t want things to be awkward between them just because he and Rory broke up.
Dave Rygalski is at the Kims’ Thanksgiving, masquerading as a Christian guitar player. It’s all part of their plan to make Mrs. Kim fall in love with him so that when Lane says she wants to date him, Mrs. Kim will approve. The girls take some tofurkey, planning to discretely put it into their napkins, but Mrs. Kim never takes her eyes off them so they have to actually eat it.
Sookie agreed to let Jackson cook the turkey, and now she’s horrified that he’s going to deep fry it. She’s well on her way to being drunk when the Girls get there.
The girls sit with Luke and Jess, and Luke is embarrassed when Jess mentions that he wanted to wait for them before they started eating. Per Rory’s request to tone down the public displays of affection, Jess kisses Rory on the cheek when she comes in. Babette and Lorelai tell her that was a totally lame kiss.
Emily and Richard have a couple from France joining them for Thanksgiving. Lorelai scandalizes her parents when she recites some lyrics from Lady Marmalade to them. Luckily, the guests have heard the song and think it’s funny. At the dinner table, the other guests start asking Rory what schools she’s applied to. Apparently, Lorelai thought she was just applying to Harvard, because when Rory mentions Yale, Lorelai goes crazy. She makes a scene and blames the whole thing on her parents.
Also in this episode: Jess runs into Dean while he’s taking out the trash. Dean’s looking for a fight, but Jess isn’t interested. Kirk has gotten a cat who hates him. Lane sneaks outside after Dave leaves. He meets her in the yard and Lane gets her first kiss.
Categories: Season 3Rory, about Kirk: He’s always been a cat person, he just never had a cat.

The recitation of Lady Marmalade lyrics sounds priceless. I wonder if French people get that a lot?

I’d be really surprised if they didn’t!
