Gilmore Girls Season Two, Episode Fifteen: Lost and Found

Lorelai and Rory go to the diner and are dismayed to find Ceasar cooking. Lorelai goes upstairs and finds Luke’s apartment a wreck. Liz finally shipped the rest of Jess’ stuff and there’s really nowhere to put it. That night, the girls walk by the diner and see Luke sitting by himself watching a tiny television and drinking a beer. Lorelai goes inside and suggests that maybe Luke and Jess need to find a bigger apartment. One with bedrooms, perhaps. Luke asks Lorelai if she wouldn’t mind paying Jess to clean out the gutters at her house. Lorelai isn’t sure she likes the idea, but Rory convinces her to give him a chance.

Jess shows up to clean the gutters and chats with Rory for a minute, but as soon as Lorelai comes into the room he shuts up. Rory asks him to try to get along with her mother. She goes off to spend the day with Dean, but things are tense between them because Rory seems totally bored with him all the time. Dean notices Rory isn’t wearing her bracelet and asks her about it. Rory hasn’t even noticed it’s been missing, so she makes something up about a rash and then runs home. Lorelai invites Jess in for some Chinese food. They’re actually getting along okay for once, but then Rory comes in yelling that she lost her bracelet.

Luke calls Lorelai and complains about all the stupid apartments he’s looked at. He’s stressing out pretty bad, so Lorelai goes to help him out. They look at a really great place and she convinces him to take it. When Lorelai gets home, she sees Jess coming out of Rory’s room. He tells Rory to take another look around her room for the bracelet. Lorelai knows something is up when Rory finds her bracelet right there under her bed. She goes outside and asks Jess why he stole it. It’s pretty obvious to me that Jess just took the bracelet to have something of Rory’s, and it was pretty nice of him to give it back as soon as he realized it really meant something to her, but Lorelai acts like a total bitch and tells him just what she thinks of him. I think she actually calls him scum. Jess asks her why, if the bracelet was so important to her, it took Rory two weeks to notice it was missing. Lorelai, of course, has no response.

Luke finds out Taylor owns the apartment building. He throws a fit. Then Taylor says he wants to buy the flower shop next door to the diner. Luke freaks out and buys the whole damn building. Then he goes home, gets a sledgehammer and knocks a hole in the wall. He tells Jess that’s his new bedroom.

Lorelai, about Luke’s messy apartment: This is what I always pictured the inside of my head to look like.

Best. Luke. Moment. Ever. I laugh every single time I watch him punch a hole through that wall, and the look on Jess’s face = priceless.

I remember the first time watching this, thinking that Jess was a total creepster, but Rory is also being a major dick to Dean here so maybe they just deserve each other.

    ♥ Luke though.
