Gilmore Girls Season Two, Episode Thirteen: A-Tisket, A-Tasket
One of Stars Hollow’s many traditions is the picnic basket auction. The ladies create picnic baskets and auction them off. The highest bidder gets to eat the picnic lunch with the girl who made it and all proceeds go toward the retirement home. Jess outbids Dean for Rory’s basket. Dean is really angry, but Rory decides to go eat with Jess anyway because “it’s tradition.” Not cool, Rory.
Jackson has been trying to drop subtle hints that he wants to move in with Sookie, but since she’s not a mindreader she’s not getting it. So now Jackson is mad and won’t bid on Sookie’s basket. Kirk ends up getting it and Jackson pays him for it. He and Sookie make up, and Jackson proposes while they eat their picnic together. Sookie accepts.
Lane has been talking to Henry, the guy she met at Madeline’s party. Henry is perfect and Lane knows Mrs. Kim would approve of him, but she also knows that would cause Henry to become unappealing to her. She’s been very sneaky and has come up with a big elaborate plan to make sure Henry gets to eat her picnic lunch with her. The plan gets messed up and Henry finally tells Lane that the sneaking around is too much for him.
Lorelai finds out Miss Patty has been carrying a picture of her around to show to available guys she meets. She’s horrified when these guys start bidding on her picnic basket. She runs to the diner and begs Luke to come out to the square and outbid them. Luke does it, of course, but he won’t eat the crap Lorelai put in the basket. He gets some food from the diner. While they’re eating in the gazebo, Dean comes to Lorelai and expresses his concern about Rory hanging out with Jess. Lorelai tries to reassure him and tells him to trust Rory.
Meanwhile, Jess and Rory are having a nice talk about books. When Rory gets up, Jess sees her bracelet on the ground and takes it. Rory tells Lorelai she had a good time with Jess and then gets mad when Lorelai tells her to be careful around him.
At Friday night dinner, Emily wants to know why the girls aren’t talking to each other. They start yelling at each other across the table, and then Rory gets up and goes into the study to hide. Lorelai tells Emily all about Jess and then gets weirded out when Emily agrees with her and tells her to lock Rory up and throw away the key. Horrified that she and her mother could possibly have a similar outlook on something, Lorelai goes into the study and tells Rory she trusts her judgment. When they get home, Rory calls Jess to say hi. While they’re talking, Jess plays with Rory’s bracelet, which is really kind of cute if you ask me.

Not cool Jess.
Lorelai begging Luke to buy her basket is awsome
I don’t know how Sookie missed the hints they seemed clear to me.

Sookie’s pretty dense, but I hate that Jackson got mad at her when he never actually came out and told her he wanted to move in together.
