Gilmore Girls Season One, Episode Twelve: Double Date
Lane asks Rory to set her up with Dean’s friend, Todd. Dean’s not really all about the idea, but goes along with it because he’s the best boyfriend ever. They go to the movies but don’t tell their mothers; Mrs. Kim would freak out if she knew Lane was out with a boy, and Lorelai would feel obligated to tell Mrs. Kim the truth if she knew it.
Sookie has asked Jackson out and he said yes, but they never made a definite plan and now they’re all awkward around each other and Sookie is freaking out. Lorelai convinces her to call him. She does and they make a plan, but Jackson’s cousin, Roon, is in town. Sookie ends up setting the whole thing up as a double date, asking Lorelai to keep Roon company. When Roon meets Lorelai, he’s disgusted at how tall she is.
They all go out to some fancy French restaurant and nobody has a good time. Lorelai thinks they’ll have more fun if they go to Luke’s, so they head there. Roon gets upset because he’d rather go bowling. He leaves in a huff when Jackson refuses to go with him. Lorelai leaves Sookie and Jackson alone while she plays cards with Luke. Luke starts to ask Lorelai to have dinner with him sometime, but then Mrs. Kim comes in, yelling at Lorelai and demanding to know where Lane is.
Lane is grounded and locked in her room. Lorelai goes to talk to Mrs. Kim and tries to convince her that maybe that’s not the best way to go. Mrs. Kim relents a little and tells Lane she can go outside.
Categories: Season 1Rory: Lane’s allowed outside for fifteen minutes. I’m gonna go stand across the street and yell at her.
